This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a public school that accommodates 105 general and special education students. Our students come from a diverse community. The majority of the students that attend the school are from low-income families. The parents and guardians must be attending a school program or work to have their child enrolled at the school. All of the students receive a free breakfast, lunch, and snack.

For many of the students, this is their first time in school and we want to make it a positive start to their educational journey for a lifetime of learning.

We are the student's first teachers at my school and we have the privilege of starting them on their passion for learning.

My Project

Give my students the gift of learning with nature. We have an outdoor learning environment called Nature Explore. This is where children have access to develop a profound engagement with the natural world. The natural environment is a complex and diverse one that contains opportunities for children to learn and develop in all learning areas. I am asking for a workbench, tote to carry materials and some motivational stickers.

When playing outside my students will gain the skills necessary to solve problems, compromise, and learn together as a team.

These natural materials items will give students opportunities to build the skills necessary to collaborate positively with others. In my experience with children who master the skills of collaborating with each other will be successful team players in their future education and careers.
