The students really enjoy their time outdoors in our garden and we want to be able to offer them fun activities that can tie into the message of loving our environment and taking care of nature. I am always looking for ways to maximize their time with me and keep them engaged.
My goal is always to encourage students to explore, be creative, and learn to love the beauty that surrounds us.
These items will help me give more students a chance to do some of their favorite things. The watering cans are a big hit and we have a line waiting to use them everyday. Another popular item is the garden tools, especially the rakes. We have a large live oak tree that puts out lots of leaves and they love to make piles to jump in. We also use the leaves to add to our compost bins. Our reusable bags broke this year, so we are in need of replacements. The mud kitchen would be a welcome addition to our outdoor kitchen area. We are currently using repurposed electrical spools and we could use more space to allow more kids to play at once.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and not everyone has the ability to play outside or work in a garden environment. Providing these activities for my students will hopefully help them learn to love nature and foster life long healthy habits.
