Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our school, we are committed to supporting all students, including those who may struggle to connect with their peers during traditional recess. Some children face challenges with social interactions, whether due to differences in personality, emotional needs, or past conflicts. For these students, recess can become a time of stress rather than joy, leading to isolation or behavioral issues.

My goal is to create a safe and supportive alternative recess space where these students can engage in physical activity, develop social skills, and experience the emotional benefits of play.

With your generous support, I hope to provide a variety of games and equipment that will allow these students to enjoy their recess time in a way that suits their individual needs. The items I am requesting include:

Basketballs, dodgeballs, and soccer balls: For team or solo games like basketball and dodgeball, encouraging physical activity, teamwork, and friendly competition.

Tetherball kit: A great option for those who prefer independent play but still wish to interact with others.

Golf set: For developing fine motor skills and offering an alternative to high-energy games.

Cup toss game: A fun and engaging activity that helps improve hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

T-ball set: Encourages both individual play and social interactions with others, allowing kids to take turns and practice teamwork.

By creating a welcoming, low-pressure alternative recess space, we can provide a safe haven for these students to engage in meaningful play, reduce anxiety, and build confidence. Ultimately, this project is about ensuring that all students have a chance to experience the joy and benefits of recess, regardless of their social challenges.
