Outdoor Classroom

Help me give my students raised beds, a hydroponics bundle, a trellis, and more to have an educational, hands-on outdoor classroom to learn about the science of nature and agriculture.

My Project

My school currently has an outdoor classroom that I have been struggling to breathe new life into. The current garden boxes are rotting out, but I still use them to teach. I’ve built my own trellises from fallen branches and string, however, I have to build new ones every year and we don’t always get decent strings to use. Our last frost date is May 2nd, so it would be great if we had a way to start seeds indoors in the winter and transplant them in the spring. I have had success growing lettuce, spinach, carrots, snap peas, Swiss chard, and strawberries with my students. I would like to expand on the educational experiences that I’ve started and inspire more students to take these skills and apply them in their own neighborhoods.
