Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

We are a new small school and have recently opened serving a community where 98% of our students receive free or reduced lunch.

Our school is located in a very urban neighborhood, where there is no access to trees, plants or safe outdoor spaces. Our students do not have any opportunities to learn science or experience the beautiful nature that lives just beyond their community. However, we are trying to change this by creating an outdoor learning environment. This space will have a garden, trees and benches where we can conduct hands on, project based science lessons. The garden project is slowly gaining momentum at the school and the children are beyond enthused. However, we have no space for the students to sit while we teach lessons.

We need 2 large picnic benches so that we can conduct science and garden lessons outdoors. This will allow students to be surrounded by the things they are studying about and help us to positively utilize the outdoor space.

Your support will ensure that our students will have a hands on education. They will have access to the outdoors and become futures stewards of the environment after having the opportunity to experience it. Please help provide the opportunity for ALL children to experience nature!
