Outdoor Adventure Backpacks

My students need outdoor backpacks for fieldwork experiences. These backpacks will be used for carrying journals and other supplies needed when we are learning outdoors.

My Students

My first-grade students are a diverse lively bunch of learners! Our school environment tries to foster this joy for learning and creativity by offering real-world, authentic experiences through fieldwork and hands-on learning opportunities. Daily, my first graders explore the world around them, ask questions, and get messy as they strive to make sense of their world.

My first graders love to be immersed in their environment learning from the world around them!

They love going on fieldwork experiences to hiking trails, local ponds, and other outdoor areas. Through these experiences, they apply many of the lessons learned in the classroom in an authentic way.

Growing up in this technology-driven world we live in, my first graders are naturally curious about coding, computers programming, and app development. They love to spend free time on Code.org where they can learn principles of coding in a developmentally appropriate way.

These six-year-old students LOVE learning about animals! They will joyously read an informational book about any kind of animal. They love to share the facts they have learned with fellow classmates and other students in the school

My Project

Part of our school's philosophy is Place Based Education. This includes taking students outdoors, and applying what they've learned in the classroom to real world situations. We frequently take our students hiking and on other outdoor adventures, where we are able to tie in reading, writing, math, and science standards in a very authentic way.

My students love to use their journals to record through pictures and words the things they observe and learn while out in the field.

Having a backpack to carry their journal, pencils, and crayons would help them be prepared for fieldwork experiences. We will also use these backpacks to carry other necessary supplies for our fieldwork experiences.
