Help me give my students vertical learning surfaces to work collaboratively in math. Whiteboards with easels will allow my students to be out of their seats and working together to show evidence of their learning in math.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Having whiteboards with easels will allow my students a chance to work in small collaborative groups each day in math. Since whiteboards erase easily, they provide students a low-risk way to show their thinking. Standing at a vertical surface has been proven as an effective way to stimulate brain function and engage all learners.
My goal for this project is to increase my students' learning gains in math by having them work in small groups at vertical work surfaces.
Teaching at a Title One school, means most of my students are of a low socio-economic status. The majority of my students are also English Language Learners and will benefit from the opportunity to hold math conversations. In addition, my student's scores show that my female students are not making the same gains in math as my male students. I am hoping that the whiteboards easels and flexible groups will help my girls find their academic math voice : )
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
