My Students
I have the privilege of teaching prekindergarten-fifth grade students that have been identified as gifted learners and students that are learning English as a second language.
My students are innovative and creative thinkers.
In my class they have the opportunity to pursue their own areas of passion through independent research projects and participate in enrichment opportunities including critical thinking and problem solving. Not only do they learn content that they are interested in, but they also learn higher level thinking skills through creative enrichment opportunities.
My Project
The students will use the Extraordinaires Design Studio to design a new product to solve a given problem. The students will have the opportunity to be creative, innovative, and think outside of the box. They will have the opportunity to present their design to others. The students will use the Circuit Maze to use their critical thinking skills to create closed circuits to solve the challenge cards. Color Cube Sudoku will allow the students to solve problems, create strategies, and collaborate. These materials will allow my students the opportunity to work on critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, collaboration, innovation, design, and communication. These are skills that they will use throughout their academic careers and in their adult life.
Students need opportunities to challenge themselves in fun and engaging ways.
These new activities will provide exciting opportunities for students to expand their knowledge in a hands-on and exciting format. The skills that the students learn from these activities will carry over into their core subject areas. I am very excited to see how these new materials help my students in so many areas.
