My students need supplies to help them finish out the school year (crayons and pencils for everyday writing, timer for transitions, a portable CD player, and bingo chips as math counters.)
Taking them down the home stretch! Oh no! It's April and we have run out of supplies! The supplies given from the school have run out and will not be replenished until September of 2016.
Currently, I have 20 students in my classroom.
They make the day very eventful! All of my students come from a very low income household and their parents/guardians can not afford their children's supplies (I've tried asking many times). My students love to be creative and need many hands on activities.
My Project
Being that my students are very active, I included some stress relief materials to calm them down. The classroom timer will be used as a great visual and listening tool for them to switch activities at a faster pace. I also included some stamps for our positive behavior system that we use in the classroom. We also have many books on tape in our listening center for reading centers but no tape player. This tape player can also update with our books when we are given books on CD. The bingo chips will be used as counters for math. The students get bored very easily so I included a new literacy center. We also need the basic materials, such as pencils and the primary colored crayons.
With a usually rough home life, my students need a place where they can come to learn and be safe.
I also want it to be a place where they can also be creative and have fun. A place where they can be kids.
