This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a small neighborhood community and go to a Title I school. They receive a free breakfast and a free or reduced lunch each day. They come to school with many needs, one being a need to be physically active. My students enjoy doing a variety of activities. They like playing tag, having relay races, and competing in team sports. A common question asked by them is, "When are we having P.E.?"
I would like to help them be physically fit each day but I lack the materials to make it happen.
My Project
Students are avid learners but they also need to be outside and get moving. Too many children are overweight and obese and I do not want to see more children fall into that category. My students look forward to P.E. every day because they enjoy competing with each other and running around the yard.
This project requests Scarves and Ribbons Movement Sets, one Out and About With Music & Movement Kit, Foam Turbo Footballs, Flag Football Belts and Playground Balls.
I plan to use the materials to help them stay physically fit. They will use the balls in games like handball and sock ball. They will learn how to throw and catch a football and not be afraid to do so since the footballs are foam. The ribbons and scarves will help them explore creatively and move with a steady beat.
