Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One thing my students always seem to love is when I read to them. Especially when we learn about others.

Whether the stories tell us about characters familiar to us or introduce us to another culture, my students are curious about their world.

This project will help me add even more diversity to our classroom library - with more diversity about others in our community. Since this month celebrates Asian American, Pacific Islanders, and Jewish American Heritages, I wanted to find books to represent those cultures, as well as find books that represent my students.

I also asked for Crayola skin tone crayons. I currently have one box for special projects. They love being able to find colors that are "just like me." So, having more boxes would allow me to have them out for everyday use as well.

Finally, I liked the positive posters to continue to send positive messages to my students. As Special Education students, sometimes, they feel a little different. But they know when they step into this classroom, being different is what makes them all special.
