This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite these challenges, I look to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. From the minute they walk through the door of my classroom I focus on their potential growth.

My students are creative, clever and want to learn!

I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day by creating a positive, safe environment where they will want to continue to learn and succeed!

My Project

Being a first grade classroom, we do lots of hands on activities and projects. A lot of these projects included cutting and pasting. My students love to do activities that allow them to practice the fine motor skill of cutting paper to create all sorts of projects that demonstrate their learning! Without a drying rack all of their work tends to stick together as it piles up on top of each other because we don't have much space in our room to leave the papers spread out to dry.

Having a drying rack would allow for my students work to stay just as they created it without getting stuck to someone else's.

This is so important because my students get so sad when they see their work has to be pulled apart.
