This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our Peer Advocates Program is a space where students are trained to offer support to other students who may be struggling with one thing or another. They also develop and lead class presentations and school-wide activities on subjects that impact the school community. Our Peer Advocates are working hard, really digging deep and stretching their beliefs, initial reactions, and taking pride in their roles on campus.
Often times our Peer Advocates are sharing their experiences, knowledge, and passions as ways of connecting with the school community and offering means of support and guidance.
A mobile podium will allow students to take their presentations to the next level. It will add an element of professionalism while also providing a physical structure of comfort and support as they [sometimes] nervously present. Our Peer Advocates have so much to give. They are leaders with huge hearts who want to help people and make a difference. It is truly a beautiful thing to witness and be a part of.
