My Students
Most of our students come from low-income households and do not have access to life essentials such as hygiene products and food. The level of their educational achievements will dramatically affect the future of our nation.
Our students are so resilient and bright, but sometimes they aren't able to focus in class because they experience tremendous amounts of trauma and stress.
I work at the Wellness Center, and I am a Community Health Outreach Worker. I often see students struggle with stress, illness, and depression due to things happening in their homes and in their communities. I am committed to providing a safe, clean, and comfortable space for all students.
My Project
Aromatherapy is a holistic, healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Sometimes it’s called essential oil therapy. Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit. It enhances both physical and emotional health. Students may benefit from aromatherapy when they are feeling anxious, stressed, or tired.
Vicks inhalers will help students feel more comfortable when they're congested or sick.
Vicks inhaler is a nasal stick that contains menthol, camphor, and pine needle oil. These substances have been used traditionally for many years as inhalations for their decongestant effect. They give off vapors that have a cooling and decongestant effect in the lining of the nose when you breathe them in. This makes it easier to breathe through your nose.
Dental wax is a soft, harmless gum protector for children and adults with braces that can be used in a pinch to cover brackets and protruding wires with a smooth surface. When the scratchy, uncomfortable feeling of new braces becomes too much, dental wax comes to the rescue. When a bracket or wire breaks or becomes dislodged, applying a lump of wax can prevent painful wires poking into your gums while you wait for an appointment with the orthodontist. It's there to help you through the rough patches!
