This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are bright and creative, and they love to learn! They come to my room excited to sing, dance, and play. Students at my school didn't get back until after Labor Day. Some parents decided their children will learn at our new virtual learning academy, and some are attending our traditional face-to-face school.
Things are new and different, but what is the same is that every child deserves a chance to express themselves through music.
As the music teacher, I am trying to provide safe activities and individual instrument bags that the students can use without having to share. Lucky for us, many music stores are offering ideas, products, and resources to help me continue to teach my students with rigor.
My Project
Ukulele is a fun and approachable way for young students to begin their musical journey. They will learn the fundamentals of playing in a group as well as alone as a solo. All this while having fun and transforming the class culture. Even though success is easily attainable, the reward earned is priceless. Playing music with their peers will bearing a sense of unity and pride. This will ring through the halls of my school, making a positive impact on the school climate. That gift will make my entire school grow and learn. “Music can change the world because it can change people.” ― Bono
