Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is one where all of our students are provided with a classroom and school environment that encourages academic and moral excellence and conveys the worth and dignity of each child, the excitement, and joy of learning, the beauty, and wonder of life. A life that moves beyond self, the order that is essential to learning and living.

Our school is representative of our linguistically diverse community.

I teacher over 500 students a week. Over 90% of them are Hispanic, 84% are considered low-income and about 14% are English Language learners. Our school is also unique. We have dual-language classrooms in each grade. Students are learning in two languages, English and Spanish simultaneously.

My Project

Our students just received a 55" television which we will use in my classes to enhance the learning process by integrating themes like how the heart works and the effects of exercise on their bodies. We use online programs, video clips, and DVD. The television that we had no longer worked because we've updated our computers and they are not compatible with the equipment we now have.

Healthy body!

Healthy mind! My students are engaged daily in activities that promote physical activities, in and out of the gymnasium. I could have my students just "run" around the gym or play games. But that is not what I see as teaching to the whole child. I integrate health and anatomy when I teach. We use online programs, video clips, and DVDs.

In order to bring the television into our gymnasium and to keep it secured, we need a television cart on which it can be mounted, rolled out and then back into a safe space when not in use.
