I'm currently using EBLI strategies with students in first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grades. It has made such a big difference, especially for my older students who have been struggling with reading for a long time. I love that EBLI training makes it possible for them to build strategies they need to decode unfamiliar words and access grade level texts. It also builds students' comprehension and vocabulary, which helps students to access the same high-interest level texts they see their peers reading. \r\n\r\nI'd like to share a couple of the EBLI wins I've had over the past few months: \r\n- A third grade student, who in the past frequently refused or avoided work because he didn't understand, is working through the whole lesson now that EBLI is presenting new information in small, digestible chunks. The EBLI approach helps me balance high expectations with the need to make sure that I'm giving him the feedback and support he needs to meet those expectations! \r\n- My co-worker shared that one of the fourth grade students I'm teaching EBLI came up to her, said \"I know how to read now because Ms. Donnelly is teaching me!\", and read the daily objective to her. Just a few months ago, this student wasn't showing any interest in reading. I'm only 20 lessons into EBLI with him, but I already see how his increased confidence and effort are pushing him to make more growth! \r\n\r\nI'm so excited to continue to use this literacy program with my students. I've learned so many practical tips for teaching reading that are helping me to make learning accesible to all my students. It's been such a relief to have the resources, knowledge, and training to help my students get back on track when their progress stalled under other programs. I've been able to focus less on prepping materials and more on implementing the effective strategies students need. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping to make this growth possible!","fullyFundedDate":1735657829079,"projectUrl":"project/help-teach-3rd-5th-graders-to-read-with/8964545/","projectTitle":"Help Teach 3rd-5th Graders to Read With Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Donnelly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9846664"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61093","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":527,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":96,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"1 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":61.4,"schoolId":61093,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about George Kelly Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"George Kelly Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/chelsea-public-schools/george-kelly-elementary-school/61093"}
