This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Think back; some of you, longer than others ... to the days you were in school! Do you remember how proud you were to attend your school? Can you remember the enormous amount of school pride you felt as you or anyone else chanted the words, "Go ____!" Help my students experience this same thrill!

My students face so many challenges, but they realize that education is the vehicle to drive them towards a more promising future.

With so many issues, it is my mission, as their educator, to take them away and rescue them from their pressing worries through the joys of meaningful experiences and exposure to what life has to offer. Our school's poverty index is the highest, with only one other in the state of South Carolina. We don't take this rank as an excuse to have a pity party, but rather as a means of motivation. We strive to plant seeds of hope and reassure the students that education is the key that unlocks the doors of opportunity and future success. By understanding that there is more to life than what meets the eye, it is my belief that my students will do what it takes to beat the odds, defy the statistics & embrace the world of education and all it has to offer. We take great pride in representing the Eagles and would love to have an official mascot costume.

My Project

Can you imagine a pep rally without a mascot? What about a school carnival or Spring Fling without a mascot in sight? This is more than common at our school. We have a loving school, with an enormous amount of school pride and we'd like to showcase this pride even more, by presenting and showcasing a mascot to our school events! Our Eagle mascot would make guest appearances at all of our school functions, to include PTA meetings, school assembly programs, chorus concerts, and even sports events. Alex the Eagle could also visit the classes in Kindergarten, first and second grades and read to them as a reading incentive. Wouldn't it be cool to have a visit from Alex the Eagle if you are at home with a fever or cold? This too is a possibility, with the purchase of an official school mascot costume.
