Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The inspirational effect of music is amazing. Today some of the students at our school asked me to help start a Mariachi group at our school. They were so excited, and enthusiastic, it motivated me to get on Donors Choose right away.
We are a charter school in a poor urban neighborhood.
Our students have not done well in traditional school settings. At our school they thrive and discover new talents and abilities. We offer project-based learning, art, and music to entice them to attend school.
My Project
I have split up the instrumental components for a Mariachi Band. This part is for a trumpet one of the vital components to Mariachi music. We have several students who play, and this is a great starter. This is a resource that the students themselves have requested. That makes it so much more powerful because it is student centered and driven. This donation would allow them to pursue their musical dreams, and perform for their school, families, and community. If you could have seen their eyes glowing with excitement, you would not hesitate to donate.
Our students describe our school as their "second home." Part of that inspiration comes from the musical opportunities that we are able to offer.
Thanks to Donors Choose and the wonderful people who support it, we are able to offer a wide variety of musical instruments to our students. Now they are ready to take the next step and share their gifts with the world. With this project, these dreams can become reality.
