Our Students Read Everywhere!

Help me give my students the opportunity read even more with a "library on wheels" cart will ensure all students have something great to read during independent reading in the gym, along with thermometer charts and bags.

My Project

Our elementary students need your support to grow their brains by reading! My elementary is a proud, diverse, and strong school community. Our student population includes 50% Hispanic/Latino, 18% African American, 22% multi-racial, and 9% Caucasian, with a large portion of students of Middle Eastern descent. We also have two autistic support classrooms, and we are committed to promoting neurodiversity amongst our learners.

This year, to ensure that our young readers have weekly access to great books, we are creating a "Library + Independent Reading" program with our specialist teachers.

Each class will have dedicated time each week to check out books from our school library and read for enjoyment on yoga mats in the gym.

Yes, our students read everywhere--even in the gym! With your support, we can purchase a rolling library cart with built-in baskets to bring a diverse selection of books directly to our students. We also need dry-erase thermometer charts to track our reading goals and drawstring bags for students to carry their library books safely.

By allowing our students to see themselves and their peers in the books they read, we can continue to build a community of enthusiastic and lifelong readers.
