My Students

The students at our elementary school are learning social-emotional skills that will last a lifetime! They are developing strategies to be emotionally regulated, mindful, and compassionate young learners. The approximately 350 students have varying abilities and tools to manage the stressors of today's world. Their beautiful spirits shine through the halls.

My studednts are creative, kind, funny, and determined.

Yet, some are struggling to find their place, struggling to manage their emotions, and struggling to feel success socially, academically, and behaviorally. With the right tools and approach, we can ensure that all students are heard, belong, respected, and given the supports they need to thrive.

My Project

I am asking for a variety of stress reducing tools including sand timers, squishy toys, therapy putty, chair bands, and fidgets. I am also requesting books for discussions, games and strategy supports for students. These materials will support my students and help them learn critical social-emotional skills- skills that will have a lifetime impact.

The requested tools will support students to receive

behavioral support that addresses the need behind their behavior, receive teaching to address this need, and help build connection and trust for the students who need it the most.

I believe Social Emotional Learning is a critical component of elementary education. As a school counselor, I teach strategies that will support the behavioral needs of ALL students. I will use the materials in individual sessions, small group, and whole class lessons. My goal is for all students to feel supported and safe at school, while learning the skills necessary for a beautiful life.
