My Students
My school is a Title I school that falls within a very transient neighborhood. Many students come and go throughout the year and they struggle with the expectations for their new classroom. Many students also don't have access to different types of technology at home or within their homes. The school has 1 to 1 Chromebooks for use during school but they are restricted on what they are able to do on their Chromebooks. They are desperately wanting access to alternative technologies that allow them to produce something they can keep.
My Project
This will make a huge difference in my students' learning by providing them with a way to create parts and pieces for larger projects that could otherwise not accurately be cut. This will allow them to plan and create projects that would other wise not be an option.
Students will also be able to create many things such as prototypes of their inventions, advertisements, and t-shirts with their own logos and slogans on them when they create their own businesses, business plans, during the year.
Besides STEM activities, students will be able to create models for geometry, measurement, general science and social studies.The applications are endless.
It will also allow students to learn to interact with a computer program other than word processing, in order to create and implement their designs. This will make the transition to coding and other computer sciences much easier as the students progress in grade levels. It also provides a launch to career readiness.
