My Project

I am a speech- language pathologist who works with students in a prek- 8 Title I school. Many of my students are in classes for children who have multiple types of disabilities and they struggle with language development. This impacts their basic life skills. They, as do most children, learn best through hands-on activities.

Learning a life skill, such as working with money, will benefit their language development.

I will allow the children to earn school (pretend) money in speech - language therapy sessions. They can use this money to buy the snacks, candy, and treats I am wishing for in this project. I will be able to write lessons to target IEP goals such as increasing vocabulary, following multiple- step directions, and answering inferential questions. I cannot wait to see how this motivates the children to improve their language and daily living skills!
