This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
It's all about the touch! Help my first grade students work with technology again and love their SmartBoard again!
I'm a first grade teacher in an ICT classroom in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Most of the students in my class have special needs and learning disabilities and learn better in an environment rich with technology and hands-on learning. Most of the students also come from low-income families and don't have computers at home to work with. When we received the SmartBoard in the beginning of the year, the children loved it! They would pay attention to the lesson because they all wanted a turn on the SmartBoard. But a few month into using the SmartBoard, the bulb in the projector blew out and it was too costly for my school to replace it. The children were very upset that they couldn't use the SmartBoard any longer. Please help in returning the SmartBoard back into use in our classroom. My first graders will be extremely grateful!
My Project
In giving us a new projector for our SmartBoard, the children will be able to use technology in the classroom. Not only will they be able to view websites but they will get to interact with the SmartBoard as well. The children are more engaged in the learning process with hands-on learning and the SmartBoard provides that learning environment for them!
Being in an ICT classroom where the children have special needs, the more hands-on resources we can offer the children, the better for them.
In a school where our budget has been cut drastically, we have limited resources to offer the children. To have a SmartBoard in the classroom that the children stare at but know cannot use is a sad reminder everyday for the children and for the teachers! Please help restore our SmartBoard!
