Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My hydroponic gardening students are ready to transplant some of their rooted cuttings into soil. We will continue to grow our plants inside because winter is upon us. We will continue to start our seedlings in water, but we have cabbage, peppers, herbs, strawberries, and tomatoes ready for soil. We have just started growing cucumbers, watermelon, cantaloupe, bok choy, and two more varieties of tomatoes in our AeroGarden.

We need more grow lights, potting soil, and pots to transplant our cuttings.

It is so exciting to watch plants grow in our classroom. My students are learning skills that will help them feed their families, and some are planning to start their own businesses so we will also be planting flower bulbs for the spring!
