Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I'm learning to speak up and be heard", said one of my 7th graders when she was asked what was one thing she learned in Musical Theatre this year. Our middle school is full of fun, hard working students that are concerned about their future and learning that they can be successful if they choose to be.

Our students and their parents are hard working and prepare each day for their future.

Our students enjoy doing projects, writing programs, creating shows and videos, playing sports and performing! Our students come from a working class neighborhood, not much English is spoken, so they speak both Spanish and English to help their parents.

The students are excited to learn, participate in the activities in school, helping each other and enjoying the fun while learning at school.

My Project

At Century Community Charter school, we have the opportunity of putting on plays and musicals. We have Musical Theatre, Art and Music classes that give all our students a chance to learn, shine and boast of their talents. The students also learn how to crew a show, with the par cans we have and our little sound board, they learn how to be a team and work towards a common goal.

If able to purchase new lights, we can train our students on a more professional level.

We have four big shows a year in the gym and two in the dance studio, the students will be able to transport the lights back and forth learning how to create atmosphere, color background and add to their knowledge of building props and running a sound board. Not only will the classes be involved, but our after school program boasts another 45 students who take the arts on a more serious level and think about pursuing a life in the arts.
