This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
At our school, we rely heavily on classroom computers, as our computer lab only has ten computers and our classroom has twenty-eight students not everyone gets the computer practice that they need. The students in my classroom come from underprivileged areas on Chicago's south side where access to technology is already very limited. My student's parents do not own computers or laptops, as they are expensive items, and so the kids do not have access to them even at home.
My Project
The computer usage in our room is incredibly limited. In the world we live in, knowledge of computers as an educational and research tool is very important if not a necessity. In our classroom, we have six laptops for the students to use during computer time and on top of that, there are 10 computers in the computer lab.
Our students do not have enough access to the vital resource that computers can be in the classroom.
They need access to computers to help them learn more about the world around them as well as to grow their vocabulary and reading abilities.
