Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is incredibly diverse and our students come from all over world. We are lucky to be surrounded by so many languages and cultures every day My 2nd graders are especially amazing! They are hard workers and love to learn. Many of them come from underprivileged homes or are refugees and new to our country, but that doesn't stop them from working hard and learning every day.

My Project

For my students that struggle with learning to read, staying engaged and excited about their learning can be difficult. Daily repetition and practice with reading skills is so important but doing the same thing every day can get monotonous and un-exciting. This causes many of my students to become frustrated or overwhelmed and lose interest in reading.

These simple phonics and reading games will offer variety and hands-on experiences to keep my struggling students engaged and excited while they practice valuable reading skills.

They will break up the monotony of flashcards and word lists and give my students activities to look forward to.

Students learn best when they are working together and having fun. These games will also give them opportunities to learn and interact with each other while practicing reading.
