My Project

My first-grade students are voracious readers! They love a good read-aloud and eagerly anticipate getting chosen as the “librarian” who will choose the book we will read during our morning meeting. I strive to provide my students with books that are interesting, relatable, and informative.

The more students can relate to a book, the more they will engage; nothing is more inspiring than a first grader who is engaged and excited about a topic!

In my classroom, I have witnessed that the adage is true: readers are leaders! This Earth Day, I want to engage my students in meaningful conversations about conservation, with books about ways to protect and care for our beautiful home!

I love to teach students about the importance of taking care of our planet, and these books will help me do just that! The books are wide-ranging, but the themes of nature, conservation, and responsibility are woven throughout each text. The beautiful Earth Buddy plush will grab their attention, while each carefully chosen book, from Earth Ninja to The Adventures of a Plastic Water Bottle, will intrigue, inspire, and empower my first-grade readers to be Earth Day leaders!
