This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Stage lights up...overture begins...curtains part...little Johnny begins to speak...but no one can hear him.
We have no microphones or speakers that would allow Johnny to have his big moment.
We need these microphones to hear our new rising stars!
Peter Pan Jr. is planned for spring!
Seventy-five percent of our incredibly committed students are at or below the poverty level in our state.
Many arrive for breakfast and stay until 6pm. Because we are an improving school, our children are tested frequently for progress. Committed, focused and loving teachers work long hours at school.
Our theater club is a real bright spot for these students. The theater gives these children a chance to shine, even if school and life is found to be difficult. Through the dramatic process, the children learn new skills and build confidence both on and off stage. These students get to work with volunteer trades people who come to help build scenery, work on lighting, teach dance and music...all terrific, but we do not have a sound system for the show. The children need to be heard.
My Project
These students are completely committed to the theater process. They will build the sets, learn their lines, learn to dance, and learn all the music; but, it will be lost on the audience, their families, if they cannot be heard.
The wireless microphones will allow the students to be heard and enjoyed! This alone will build their confidence. A good performance also builds self-esteem. A positive experience helps to strengthen our theater program!
Your generous donation will help our students to be heard during their performance of Peter Pan Jr.
Without your help, our audiences will never know how well their children sang, how funny they were, or how well they were able to build their theatrical characters.
We need the microphones to build this program and help these students become the confident learners we know they are!
