My students need two sets of cubbies in order to independently store their coats, backpacks, rest blankets, and other personal items throughout the school day.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine hearing a four-year-old say, "Can I take an apple home? We don't have a lot of food in my house."
My students are growing up in an unsafe, extremely economically disadvantaged neighborhood.
As Pre-Kindergartners, this is their first experience in school. My students are learning to love school through our exciting hands-on, experience-based classroom. Unfortunately, my school is lacking tremendously in resources and funding, and we were provided with hardly any materials.
Each day, my students enter the classroom and independently hang up their coats, backpacks, and other personal items in their cubbies. This September our class is being relocated, and some of the cubbies from our former classroom will not fit in our new space.
My Project
My students would benefit from these cubbies tremendously, as it would allow each student to have his or her own space to keep personal belongings throughout the school day. This enables my students to foster a sense of independence, which is an enormously important piece of our Pre-K curriculum.
This project will greatly improve our classroom, as it will allow each student to have his or her own cubby to keep personal belongings.
As many of the students live in homes where they do not have personal space, it is so important for each child to have a cubby in school!
