My students need some new equipment on the playground for recess & PE time! The basketball hoops, balls, beanbags, & everything else will provide endless fun & learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year I get to teach TK (transitional kinder) and I am so thrilled about it! It gives students who are just slightly too young for kinder a year to be exposed to kindergarten curriculum, but with no added pressure of needing to masters standards they are not ready for.
I have twenty four 4 (soon to be five) year olds in my room.
My students like the school as a whole are mostly English Language Learners on free or reduced lunch. They are a lively group and love everything from dancing to Pete the Cat books! My TK students and I have a little extra outside time than regular kindergarteners and as I am supervising the yard I am noticing that we are in need of some help!
My Project
I am requesting a variety of outside play equipment. I did this a few years ago and the bikes, balls, and bean bag toss are still great, but with about 175 TK and kinder kids playing a day, more activities would really help cut down on dangerous tree climbing and dangerous tag games. With these supplies we could have a small basketball court, water play, a station for balancing, and so much more!
Updating and improving our playground will really help the students in so many ways.
It will help keep them safe by keeping them occupied at activities that are not dangerous. It will help them communicate and make friends because they will be playing and cooperating with each other. Lastly, it will make their first year in school more fun! Recess will get even better and recess is pretty awesome for everyone!
