Our elementary school serves a diversified population of 400 children with 50% receiving free or reduced lunch. Our beautiful school yard is the heart of our neighborhood. It has become a true community space with a well utilized family friendly walking track and playground area.
With most of our students walking to and from school each day it is sad that their access to sections of our playground have been blocked off due to unsafe conditions.
We could truly use your help to upgrade our playground equipment for our precious students to engage in healthy and physically fun activities making our school yard enjoyable for all.
My Project
Our very hard working students strive to do their best academically every day. To balance the rigors of school work, all elementary children need healthy, safe and fun outlets. Our daily recess periods are those breaks to release the stress of academic learning. When the bell rings to signal recess time students have always run to the playground to climb up and descend the slides over and over again for the pure joy and stress relief it provides. We want our students enjoy recess to be able return to class refreshed and ready to learn.
Unfortunately, our beloved slides have unsafe holes in the plastic and are blocked off from student use.
With your support, we will replace these with Wilder spiral slides with double cargo nets. This will make recess and after school time so much more enjoyable for 400 deserving students and their families.
