Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of my students are of Hispanic background and are still working on learning the language. In my class though many come with the knowledge of math skills they still have not learned the English vocabulary for math.
I feel that by providing an area where they can have manipulatives to practice these skills and learn the vocabulary is KEY to their SUCCESS.
My students come in eager to learn everyday and though they struggle they still give their all. As a teacher I want to provide them with an environment in which they are comfortable and feel they can learn.
My Project
The Sandusky Elite 72"H x 34"W x 12"D Steel Fully Adjustable Bookcase will create a corner for our class manipulatives. The Honey Can Do 6pk Mini Non-Woven Foldable Cubes will be great for storing our larger manipulative in their own area. Lastly the Staples 5.5 QT Plastic Locking Lid Containers will help with much needed storage for the students math manipulatives such as counters, cubes, play money. In this way, they can easily access them during class time or DI time. By having their corner accessible and organized students will feel comfortable in using them as needed.
This will give them independence in not having to ask the teacher for manipulatives they might need during independent time.
Allowing them to take ownership in their own learning.
