Our Loft Needs A Lift

My students need a loft extension kit so that we can turn our classroom loft into the best environmental sciences area ever.

My Students

I have been teaching Kindergarten for 26 years in a great school, which is located in a high poverty community. Despite the often sad circumstances my students face, they are beating the odds everyday. My students are bright, friendly, and extremely eager to learn new things. They love to explore and learn through play and hands-on experiences, which is the way it should be for a group of 5 and 6-year-olds.

With the current trend being all about test scores and less about letting kids be kids, I feel it is my duty to make learning as meaningful and engaging as I can for my students, while also making it fun!

My Project

My classroom loft is one of my students' favorite dramatic play areas. Now that we are incorporating Magic Tree House books into our reading curriculum, we have big plans! We can't wait to turn our loft into an amazing rainforest, a prehistoric cave, an icy glacier complete with penguins and polar bears, as well as, a coral reef in the middle of the ocean. My students will be so excited to explore these unique environments. To make it the best learning experience possible, our loft needs a lift. With this extension package, my students will be able to walk through the Amazon rainforest, dive into the ocean, or mingle with the penguins. This new taller loft will allow us to have areas both above and below sea level, the canopy or the glacier. Thank you for considering our project.
