Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our classroom is filled with the laughter and smiles of our kindergarten-first grade exceptional students. Although our students face many obstacles and challenges, due to their developmental delays, this small group of children won't let anything get in their way of learning and fun.

Our class is composed of kindergarten and first graders who struggle with developmental delays or are on the autistic spectrum.

Many of our students have sensory needs and benefit from the use of the requested items to help them resolve any obstacles placed before them. It's amazing to see how much our students can achieve, in an academic environment, with the use of modifications/accommodations each day.

My Project

In order to help calm and soothe some of our students, we are requesting safe, nontoxic chewy pendants to give them something they may chew on when anxious to prevent them from placing unsafe items into their mouths. Items such as a ball will be used to play games where children must learn to work with other students. This will help them build social skills and play together as a team. Simple tasks, such as lining up, can also be quite difficult for our young ones to understand. The use of the activity mats will be use as visual markers on where they may sit or stand. We can use them for circle time, color recognition lessons, games and so much more. Our little ones are just learning how to write. Many are still working on how to form shapes, letters, and trace lines. We need smaller pencils and grips to assist them with writing. Our children are full of potential but need these small items to support them along the way. Join us in supporting our class by making a donation.

Our students have the potential to reach their academic goals and become part of a mainstreamed class in the future.

Using the items we requested will help them work through their own personal challenges and improve how they function in the classroom. Your donations will help soothe their anxieties, provide safe items for their sensory needs, enhance fine motor skills, and provide visual markers for them to follow. We appreciate any support you provide. Thank you!
