Our Little Drummers Need Big Drums - 2!

My students need a 24 inch bass drum, bass drum carrier, and drumsticks so that they can have a drum line this school year.

My Students

Can you remember hearing a drum line for the first time? It is an amazing sound and the precision of the craft is a glorious sight. I want my students to have the chance to create that moment for the young kids at our school. I want them to perform as a drum line for the first time this year.

We are a title one charter school with a high poverty population.

We offer band and orchestra and after school percussion ensemble. We also offer young strings second to fourth graders. I teach all of that and general music. The success here has been great but it is difficult keeping up with the demand of our students in a very rapidly growing program. We strive for excellence at our school and the students work very hard.

My Project

I have been building a drum line through donors choose for about 1 year. We have 3 of 5 bass drums that we need. Our students began using the equipment last year but we did not have harnesses or money for the proper drum heads so they could not march. I purchased the harnesses and drum heads for what we had but we really need a full set of bass drums. I have a goal for our students to march in our local 2012 holiday parade as middle school students. My students have the ability to do this. Usually only high school students do this. I want my eighth grade students of 2012 to do this and they will with your help.

Our project is important because the drum line equipment can be used for many years.

Our students may make local history with what they are striving to do. I believe that they have the ability to do something great but I need your help to do it. Please help impact our program for years through your generosity. You will change the lives of many!
