My Project
This list of items includes the beginnings of a library for the scholars at AFL. I hope that the books that I have chosen and the materials that will be available to them can show the students what the joy of reading is. With no open nearby library in our area, there is a lack of options for books the kids would be truly interested in. I hope that the books that I have chosen will encourage them to read and the art materials will bring them an opportunity to express themselves creatively in a safe space.

My list contains books that I have specifically chosen to provide examples of BIPOC characters with interesting stories to tell so that the kids can maintain their interest while reading stories with characters that they can actually relate to. In addition, I have also asked students what books they personally would enjoy that are not available at the school. The list also contains some learning materials to help the kids learn their multiplication times tables, an art kit for the kids to express their creative sides, and a bingo set for a fun enrichment activity for the kids that will be used for SEL lessons.
