I serve almost five hundred amazing students from kindergarten through the fifth grade, and most of the students live in the neighborhood surrounding the school. My position is the school librarian, and I love the students' weekly library class visits. During their visits to the library, students participate in read-alouds from quality authors, discover a wide variety of genres, learn to appreciate literature, and much more. As an educator and the school librarian, I desire and encourage all the students to become lifelong readers.
My Project
It is so important for emerging readers to have access to appropriately leveled books when they visit the library. Beginner chapter books build the students' confidence, so they can move to the next level of readers. The series of FLY GUY books is about a fly and a boy named Buzz, who go on various adventures full of mischief and humor. A donation to our project will provide quality books to our precious young readers when they visit the school library. By providing access to exceptional beginner books, we can lay the foundation for our students to grow up to be enthusiastic, life-long readers.
