Our Library Needs a New Rug!

My students need a new rug to have in the school library, where students from every classroom can fit on one rug in an organized way.

My Students

I teach a Kindergarten and 1st grade multi-age classroom in an urban school district in Washington. Many students at our school come from low socio-economic backgrounds and need all of the resources they can get at school!

I am a second-year teacher looking to help add a carpet to our school library.

Our library has a meeting spot where our librarian reads to students and teaches them valuable reading lessons. However, there are times when our youngsters have a hard time keeping their hands to themselves and staying in their own spots! This carpet will help to prevent students to getting in the way of others' learning and help them to stay focused on the lesson at hand. Students will also be able to enjoy a large and attractive space to comfortably read on with a new carpet in the library!

My Project

I am requesting a carpet to add to our school library where students can listen to stories read by our librarian! This carpet is large enough to accommodate up to 30 students in one meeting area. The colored squares are large enough for Kindergarteners all the way up to 5th graders to be able to have their own personal space. It will be a management tool for our librarian to be able to ask students to sit in their own spots and focus on the lesson. It also warms up the atmosphere of the library and provides flexible seating arrangements so students can meet in a circle for meetings or sit in rows during the read aloud.
