Our Library is a Healthy Place

My students need rocking chairs to help them relax and a quiet rug space where they can stretch out and read. Coloring books will help my students calm down.

My Students

Located high on a hill, the continuation High School overlooks a panoramic view of city's downtown. Students who have not been successful at traditional high schools find success and self motivation within rich academic settings.

Students have the opportunity to select a project that matches their own interests and learning styles: language arts/literacy, mathematics, science, history/social science, world languages, and visual/performing arts.

We are revitalizing our school library. Besides research and reading, the library provides safe, quiet space for students to relax.

My Project

Students come into the library to find a quiet, safe place. Yesterday Sean needed to take time to calm down before trying to go back to class. He said the library needs a rug for kids to rest on.

Rocking chairs will help students regulate and relax in the Library.

The Library is always a safe space and students are often sent to visit if they need some time to make healthy behavior choices.

The coloring books and quiet games will also help students refocus on more positive actions. These quiet activities will help our students as they are creative and work together.
