Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are seniors who are committed to their future success and have demonstrated this by applying and being accepted into various colleges, trade/vocational schools, and branches of the military. I have been their school counselor for the past three years and I have watched many of them grow into phenomenal young men and women who are ready to graduate and take on the world. From serving in our armed forces to becoming an astronaut or curing diseases, no dream is too big for these students. They are difference makers. Better make room!

My Project

The goal of Decision Day is to recognize high school seniors for their post-secondary plans (military, trade/vocational school/ college) and promote a College Going Culture at our school. The materials I chose will be used to decorate the cafeteria for Decision Day and/or be given to students as prizes. The theme of this event is Pancakes & Props and it is a Decision Day Breakfast Celebration complete with food, fun, and prizes.

Decision Day is inspired by the NCAA’s National Signing Day to reinforce that excellence in the classroom should be given as much pomp and circumstance as excellence in athletics.
