My Students
My students, now more than ever, need joy in their lives as they return to in-person classes. Music class gives them the space to improvise, create, and perform as they work to discover their potentials. They are very active students, overflowing with curiosity and kindness, excited for each new day back in the school building. We are a Title I school, so many of my students do not have access to instruments at home. We want to continue to encourage their excitement and exploratory nature.
My Project
My young students need a large, uncluttered space to engage kinesthetically with the music. Right now, we have guitars stacked precariously in the back of the room while ukuleles hang from hair ties attached to hooks.
Our guitars and ukuleles need a more stable place to rest so our students are able to easily access and store them.
Proper storage is critical for keeping instruments in good shape, and would transform the classroom into an even more open and welcoming space. With your help, I would be able to keep our instruments safe for future generations of musicians!
