My Students

Welcome to LIFE Skills! This is a self-contained special education classroom for students with intellectual disabilities. We have grades 3-5 with a variety of different skills and levels. In my room, we focus on teaching academics in reading, writing, and math, as well as social skills, fine motor skills, and creativity.

With a small class of only 10 students, I am able to better differentiate my lessons and activities to fit each student and their individual needs.

Every day we are working to be better than the day before!

My Project

My kids with special needs often do not know the skills to care for a pet. By providing our class with the proper materials for our growing guinea pig, our class will be able to learn some empathy and responsibility skills.

We have had Ginger in our classroom for about 2 months now and she has outgrown her current cage.

This project will allow Ginger to have the proper sized cage, food and treats to continue to have the space to be happy and grow healthy and strong.

The kids absolutely love to interact with Ginger as much as possible. The magnetic tiles will allow kids to create their own play areas for ginger to enjoy.
