My Project
In my Geometry classroom at a Title I school, calculators are a precious and limited resource. There simply aren’t enough for every teacher and every student, and my students often go without them — sometimes even during tests. This puts my students at a disadvantage when they need tools to engage with challenging content.
With this project, I’m hoping to build a dedicated, labeled class set of 30 scientific calculators that stay in our room and are available to every student, every day.
These calculators will not only make sure all students have access to the tools they need, but they’ll also allow me to create a system of accountability and care around the classroom's materials.
In Geometry, we use calculators to double-check our work, make sense of complex formulas, and calculate things like trig functions and areas where mental math just doesn’t cut it. Having access to calculators will level the playing field, making math more accessible and less frustrating for all learners.
By donating to this project, you’ll be helping my students focus on learning rather than worrying about missing tools — and that will make a lasting impact on their confidence and achievement in math.
