Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are fifth graders. They are comprised of low economic status families, ranking our school as Title I. Our groups include a variety of students, including ESL, gifted/talented, and special education.
Although they may come from a variety of backgrounds and perform in differing academic levels, they all have one thing in common, and that is their love for our school.
They are responsible and show such respect for their campus.
Last year, our community was hit by Hurricane Harvey. Our school in particular lost a total of 12 classrooms! These students lost their brand new school supplies, and their teachers lost classroom materials and resources. Forced to leave our destroyed classrooms, students had to attend class wherever we had found spaces to teach in. For an entire year, these students learned math and science in our school's library, where their teachers had to share the space. In addition, their writing class took place in the computer lab, reading took place in the counselor's room, and their music teacher even held class outside and in the cafeteria! Although these students were faced with this challenge, they adapted and overcame all of it!
My Project
The Mimio Teach Interactive Whiteboard and lessons will introduce our 5th grade students to 21st century learning.
The world is changing, and we as educators need to keep up!
This Mimio Teach Interactive Whiteboard will transform my ordinary whiteboard into an interactive whiteboard, thus opening up a whole new world of teaching. The interactive whiteboard can be used in a variety of settings and will enhance learning in any subject.
This technology will benefit all types of learners all while keeping them engaged and excited about learning! All students will benefit from this project, no matter what type of learner they are.
