Flora Lewis once said, "Learning another language isn't only learning different words for the same things, but learning another way to think about things."
My 6th grade French immersion students are creative, thoughtful, full of questions, and eager to practice their French skills while engaging in project-based learning, and exploring different cultural perspectives on global issues.
In order to facilitate the development of the language, literacy and culture, I would like to create a project-based learning environment where my students can read, write, predict, explore the world around them, and analyze cultural perspectives in the target language.
Help our homeroom create our first outdoor garden. I am asking for one raised garden bed and a few garden tools to help us get started. My students will develop their language skills while engaging in a year long project-based project. This year, I would like them to learn how to build, plant, grow and produce their own food. The hands-on project will motivate all learners to use French to learn, explore, communicate and collaborate using the target language.
The students will learn literacy though gardening, explore real life examples of sustainable agriculture and discover how growing food can lead to healthier lifestyles.
Help inspire our next generation of French speaking biologists, environmentalists, engineers, horticulturists and more.
