My students need gym equipment, our gym has not been used in years and it is going to be functional again this year. We will start with learning how to play sports games.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love to be at school because it's a place where they are safe, warm, fed, and loved. My students are typical kids; they wiggle and talk a lot. I encourage friendship and family. I help them learn to stick up for each other and remember that we are a team.

The new administration is implementing 90 minutes of gym a week.

I am moving from a classroom teacher to a gym teacher and I have no equipment. This school hasn't had a gym teacher in many years.

My students are elementary level and are very low income. They don't have the opportunities to play club sports outside of school.

My Project

Gym was not considered important, reading and math is where the focus lies. The new administrator knows the importance of physical activity and is enforcing 90 minutes of gym each week. I have been hired to open the gym back up at one of the schools. There is no equipment to work with. This list of materials will allow me to start the year with some activities. The nets can be used for several different games, the basket balls and soccer balls are always a favorite. I will teach gym to grades K-5, they will benefit from exercise and activity.
