Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
There are so many benefits of having a cozy corner/ den in my classroom. Creating a cozy corner in my classroom can help my kids grow their reading skills & also help them learn how to manage their big emotions. A cozy corner learning center not only provides a reading space, but also, a safe place for my young children to go where they can calm down when they’re feeling mad, sad, nervous, or experiencing any big emotion.
My cozy den would provide a great reading environment & also a safe space in my classroom where my students go & want to solve problems and regain control of their emotions.
Learning how to solve problems and self-regulate their emotions are very important life skills. My students need to learn these skills now, so they can be successful in school and life. Without these skills they will struggle with both. My cozy den would be used to help provide not only a quiet reading space where they can grow and refine their skill, but also as a teaching tool to support the social-emotional needs of the students in my classroom. All of these items I'm asking for- along with others, will help make my area feel cozy and inviting, & are important tools for developing crucial reading & self-regulation skills.
