Our Cozy Calming Corner

Help me give my students a safe place to express their feelings in the classroom! Creating a calming corner for students to better understand their emotions through books, calming, fidgets, and comfortable seating is key.

My Project

School is not just about learning your numbers and ABCs. It is also about learning to socialize and learning more about yourself. Socialization and social-emotional learning has been greatly impacted due to the COVID pandemic. My kindergarten students have not had many opportunities to socialize with other children or be out of the house for long periods of time. School can be overwhelming for them. I want to help create a space that they feel comfortable in, a space where they can learn to self regulate and better understand their feelings. It is okay to not have a great day. By having a cozy calming corner, my students will be able to take the time to self regulate so that they are ready to learn.

These products will give the student those opportunities to better understand themselves and how they feel.

This will only enhance their learning in the classroom. My goal is for my students to leave my room everyday saying "I had a great day" even if they had rough moments. I want them to want to come to school. Having a safe place for them within the classroom is key to achieving that goal.
